“On Armenian Off-road” 8 days

DAY 1

Arrival

 Arrival in Zvartnots International Airport. Transfer to Yerevan city for overnight.

Bikes assembly and adjustment. After we will have greeting dinner in restaurant.

DAY 2

Yerevan-Garni-Geghard-Aghjots-Gilan-Yerevan

Breakfast. We will leave early in the morning and will go to Monastery Geghard founded in the IV century.

In early period this cave construction was called Ayrivank (Cave monastery), and since XIII century — Gegard, in honor of the Sacred spear which is stored in the monastery. It was one of the largest cultural centers of medieval Armenia. The most ancient monument is the semi-rocky chapel of the XII century, after the excursion around  the monastery we will be lifted by trucks with bicycles to the climb of the top. From there we will start (1930m above sea level) our way through cycling on  mountains and over Geghard Monastery. The road goes on a plateau (2400m above sea level), after we will start going down to the Khosrov forest state reserve. First part of descending is technical and rocky.
 We will reach to ancient monastery Aghjots XIII c. After survey of the monastery we continue to go down to the river, small climb (100m in length) to the village Gilan (1700m above sea level) where we will have meeting with local people and will have a lunch with them. We will continue our way without reaching to an exit from the reserve, we climb with a bias of 4-6% 1,5 km. Leaving the reserve, we will start going down to the Azat gorge, to a significant natural monument ”The symphony of stones” and we will climb to the city Garni where we will visit pagan temple Garni II-I B.C. After excursion and survey get in our car and we will come back to Yerevan.

DAY 3

Yerevan-Tsovagyugh-lake Sevan-Grakhtik -Sevan

Breakfast. Check our from hotel in Yerevan.  and transfer to the village Tsovagyugh.  
We begin our cycling from 2000 meters above the sea level and is more excellent acclimatization for us.
We will be transferred to the village from where we start climbing up 13 km until 2700m above the sea level, a bias not too steep, all the way is going with small uphills and downhills only last 1,5 km we have technical climb to reach 2700m.  On the way the top we will enjoy the stunning view of mountains, villages, Dilijan’s forests and Sevan lake. After having a snack and photos of amazing lake Sevan we will continue to the village Drakhtik. Trail is continuing with long descends and short climbs, be prepared ! On the way we will be accompanied by majestic views. Last 21km we will descent to village Drakhtik. From village we will be transferred to hotel which is on the beach of Sevan lake, so if  you want You can swim there. Check in hotel in Sevan.

DAY 4

Sevan-Jermuk

Breakfast.  Check out from hotel in Sevan. And again morning starts with transfer to the starting point. Today we will see high altitude lakes fantastic views and on the and we will get to the Jermuk resort located on 2000 m high from sea level. Today we will ride until  3000 m high above sea level again, visit 2 amazing lakes Al on 2700 m after we will decent until Jermuk city. Evening walk around city Jermuk. Check in hotel in Jermuk. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 5

Jermuk city-Goris

 Breakfast. Check out from hotel in Jermuk. Right from hotel we will get on the bikes and ride to our next point. We will go out from city and turn to the left on off road. We will climb up almost 9 km after the road will continue go down and up until to the asphalt. From where we will be transferred to Goris city. Check in hotel in Goris, overnight in Hotel.

DAY 6

Goris-Tatev-Bkheno-Noravank-Yerevan

Breakfast. Check out from hotel in Goris. Bus will transfer us out of Goris city to our riding point. We will ride in woods, above gorges and on the end our destination will be the most famous and big monasteries in Armenia, Tatev monastery. Where also has the Guinness World recorder as longest ropeway on the world. The trail has few 1.5 km easy climbs, and we have only one 4 km climb which is a bit technical, but as the trail will go trough woods You won’t feel that. On our way we will visit on unique church X century Bgheno Noravank, which has a unique architecture. And we will see the  Voritan gorge from above, which is really impressive. On the end of our way we will descent on old asphalt road and on the end we will admire the beautiful view of Tatev monastery, and have an excursion after our Car or Ropeway will take us to the another side of the gorge and by car we will continue to Yerevan. Check-in hotel in Yerevan, overnight in Yerevan.

DAY 7

Yerevan-Kari lake- Amberd- Echmiadzin-Yerevan

 Breakfast. Early morning  Again the car will transfer us to the lake Kari which is situated on 3200 m, under the Aragats mountain.

Here we will start climb up until 3600 m above sea level and after we will go down to the lake Kari and continue our way until Amberd fortress V-VII cc. Climbing part is not too long, but it is rocky, steep and technical, we will climb up slowly and whenever we want we can start go down to the fortress Amberd.

At Amberd fortress we will have an excursion after the car will take us to Echmiadzin cathedral monastery 301-303 and after excursion we will return to Yerevan city.

DAY 8

Departure

Transfer to the airport. Have a safe flight home.
