DAY 1: Arrival
Arrive at the airport. Meet and greet, transfer to the accommodation.
DAY 2: Yerevan City walk – Echmiadzin – Zvartnots – Yerevan
Start tour in the capital of Armenia and explore the important sightseeing places of 2795 years old Yerevan city including Food Market where we can taste and buy home-made dried fruit and fresh vegetables, Cascade a massive staircase scented by flowers on multiple levels. Walk on Aram Street and meet the sculptor and his works just right in his workroom. Be a witness of how these masterpieces are being made. During city tour we will use the public transport and experience Yerevan style metro. Depart for the spiritual and administrative headquarters of the worldwide Armenian Church. Visit the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin (302-303 AD) the oldest state-built church in the world and the seat of the Catholicos. On the way back to Yerevan visit Zvartnots temple (means “celestial angels”) 7 th century wonderful architectural masterpiece. The remnants of Zvartnots, even in ruins, are a majestic sight. These sights are listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

DAY 3: Yerevan – Sevanavank – Artanish Mountain – Dilijan
Drive towards the lake Sevan the largest lake in Armenia and the Caucasus region. It is also one of the largest fresh-water high-altitude lakes in the world. This huge mountain lake is situated at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level. Visit Sevanavank 9th c. (Sevan monastery) located in the peninsula which used to be an island before. Afterwards take a Boat Trip in a replica of 13-th century merchant sailing ship of Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia and transfer to Artanish peninsula. Start hiking to Artanish Mountain (2461m) where we will see the whole beauty of the lake and the Geghama Mountains surrounding it. Its summit is the only place from which we can see the whole Lake Sevan. Passing Sevan-Dilijan tunnel we appear in the fabulous forested resort town of Dilijan.

DAY 4 : Dilijan – Haghartsin monastery – Alaverdi
Visit Haghartsin monastery (10-14th cc.) is nestled in a temperate rainforest on a mountainside. It is one of those spots in Armenia that feels like you are walking through a huge, unreal movie set. Start hiking which takes us along footpaths used for centuries by shepherds and woodsmen.We’ll follow a stream and crisscrossing trails uphill through the forest, eventually ending up at a clearing with a magnificent view of Shamakhyan village and the surrounding region. From here, you will wind your way down to the village. Drive along the beautiful river Debed to Alaverdi.

DAY 5: Alaverdi – Haghpat – Sanahin –Yerevan
Drive to a medieval Armenian monastery complex Haghpat (10th c) located in the same name village. The monastery is inscribed in UNESCO world heritage list. Drive to Odzun village and visit the famous Church which is a rare example of a domed basilica built at the end of the 6th century. Start hiking through the beautiful valley of Debed river and follow a trail across the upper part of the canyon wall towards Horomayri Monastery. Visit the monastery surrounded by caves, the hillside under it is completely terraced, forming an easy path down to the highway. These abandoned churches, caves and terraces once formed an obviously thriving community. Continue hiking to Ardvi village about 100m west on the main paved village road, nearby is located Srbanes Monastery. Here was shot the famous film by Sergey Paradjanov “The color of pomegranate”. There were also shot some parts of other famous Armenian films. Walk back to the highway you have an easy path south towards Kobayr. Drive back to Yerevan.

DAY 6: Yerevan – Aragats Mountain – Yerevan
Early in the morning drive to the mountainous Lake Kari (3200m). Get ready for hiking to the southern summit of the highest mountain of Armenia and South Caucasus. Mt. Aragats with its unique nature has sub-alpine and alpine zones as well as four peaks and one of the biggest craters in the world, created by a volcano eruption in the distant past. The highest northern peak is 4090m. We are ascending the southern one (3880m). Descend from the mountain and return to the capital Yerevan.

DAY 7: Yerevan – Garni Temple – Geghard – Yerevan
Drive to Kotayk province and visit Garni fortress (3rd-2nd cc.BC) the summer residence of the kings and Garni Temple (1st c.) which is the only survived pagan temple of heathen culture in Armenia. Nowadays the ruins of the royal palace and the bathroom with a stunning mosaic work can be found near the temple. Start hiking through the Azat gorge (inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage list) with the beautiful scenery to the Symphony of Stones. Northeast of Garni, higher up the gorge of Azat river, there is an outstanding monument of medieval Armenian architecture – Geghard monastery (4-12th cc.).
