Tour Description:

Armenia is a wonderful country. It’s has beautiful landscapes, wonderful sights from north to south. During this tour you will visit Southern Armenian-region Syunik. You will see the longest ropeway in the world, and see the treasure of Armenian architecture- Tatev.

During the hike tour you will see the all region Syunik with its fields, canyons, monasteries, mountains. Discover one of the most beautiful region in Armenia. Overnight: 2 nights in Yerevan, 2 nights in Halidzon, 1 night in Tatev.

Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1:    Arrival

Arrive at the airport. Meet and greet, transfer to the accommodation.

Overnight: Yerevan

Transfer: 15 km / 10 miles

 

DAY 2:   Yerevan – Goris city – Khndzoresk village – Halidzor village

Drive to Syunik province. Visit Kyores(Old Goris) village. It was one of the biggest cave villages in the region. It was so much developed, that even had an amphitheater in the cave. Drive 20 minutes and appear in a fantastic cave village with a picturesque view to the ruins of an old village, churches, tombs, nature, springs and a new bridge that spans the gorge. Khndzoresk is an ideal place for hiking. In the end of the 19th century Old Khndzoresk was the biggest village of Eastern Armenia. Explore every corner of these manmade  dwelling places. Drive to Halidzor village for overnight.

DAY 2: Halidzor – Old Khot Village – Old Halidzor Village – Halidzor 

Start hiking from Halidzor village to see Old Khot village, “The Armenian Machu Picchu”, is beautifully set on the bottom and slopes of the mystic Vorotan Gorge (Syunik, south Armenia). It is one of the settlements abandoned in the middle of the last century. Here you will find Mrgadzori Khach Church (“Cross of the fruit ravine”) built by a beauty having run away from the Sheikh-Abbas harem, as the legend says. Continue trekking to Old Halidzor village, back to Halidzor.

Hiking route: Halidzor – Old Khot Village – Old Halidzor Village – Halidzor

Hiking: 16km / 10 miles

 

DAY 3: Tatever cableway – Tatev village – Tandzatap village – Mets Anapat Monastery – Devil’s bridge – Tatev 

Taking Tatever cable car to the village of Tatev. Start hiking and visit Tandzatap village, the smallest village in the area. Contine hiking to Tatevi Mets Anapat (Great Hermitage of Tatev) build in 17-18th centuries. It was a religious and educational center found by monks from Harants Anapat. Contine to natural beauty: Devil’s bridge. During many ages the lime from healing travertine springs, was thrown from one wall to the other, creating a great rocky arch over a furious river. Back to Tatev village.

Hiking route: Tatev village – Tandzatap village – Mets Anapat Monastery – Devil’s bridge

Hiking:  14 km9.2 miles

 

DAY 4: Tatev – Vorotan river gorge – Harzhis village – Yerevan 

The route starts from Tatev village and continues to Vorotan river gorge. 3.5km above the gorge, in the middle of sunny plain, the village of Old Harzhis is situated: Old roads, old bridge, old houses covered with grass on the roofs. After reaching Harzhis village, transfer to Yerevan.

DAY 5:    Departure

Transfer to the airport. Have a safe flight home.
