DAY 2

Yerevan city tour

Breakfast in the hotel. Start tour in the capital of Armenia and explore the important sightseeing places of 2799 years old Yerevan city including Food Market where we can taste and buy home-made dried fruit and fresh vegetables.  Visit the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts – Matenadaran the state repository that holds one of the world’s richest depositories of medieval manuscripts and books.

Visit house-museum of famous Armenian director Sergei Parajanov. Parajanov was not only a film director, but also a great artist. In his house museum you will see his collages made by very different things. Also, the house museum is built with Armenian traditional architecture style.

Visit Komitas’s museum- institute. Komitas is a founder of Armenian modern music. He has not only saved the national, country music from destroying, but also spelled put the Armenian music code. In museum you may see the historical documents about Komitas, about that period when he lived, his musical instruments, his unfinished works etc.

Back to hotel. In the evening visit famous Malhkas jazz club. Enjoy your great evening with famous Armenian jazzmen.

DAY 3

Yerevan –Garni-Geghard-Vernissage-Yerevan

Drive to Kotayk province and visit Garni fortress (3rd-2nd cc. BC) the summer residence of the kings and Garni temple (1st c.) . Nowadays the ruins of the royal palace and the bathroom with a stunning mosaic work can be found near the temple. Northeast of Garni, higher up the gorge of Azat river, there is an outstanding monument of medieval Armenian architecture – Geghard monastery (4-12th cc.) listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Choir performance in Geghard. People say, it seems that angels are singing for you, when Geghard choir sings.

Back to Yerevan. Visit Vernissage market- a famous center, where you can find souvenirs, jewelry, pictures, books, vintage products.

If your tour will be managed on month’s last Friday, you will participate in to event “We and our dances”. In that event all may study traditional Armenian dance moves.

And persons, who already know the moves of dances could enjoy traditional music and the spirit of Armenians love.

DAY 4

Yerevan –Khor Virap-Areni-Noravank-Tatev-Yerevan

Drive to historical Khor-Virap monastery (4- 17th cc.). Take the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful view to the biblical Ararat Mountain, where Noah’s arch cast anchor. Khor-Virap monastery (means «deep dungeon») rests atop a little hill; it is where Grigor Lusavorich (St. Gregory the Illuminator) was imprisoned for 13 years before adapting Christianity as a state religion in 301 AD. Proceed and visit Areni wine factory to taste local wine made from special sorts of vines. Visit Noravank 13thc. (means “New Monastery”) a masterpiece of Armenian architecture which is situated in a narrow gorge and encircled by tall, sheer, brick-red cliffs.

Drive to the 9th century Tatev monastic complex located on a large basalt plateau. The world’s longest reversible rope way Tatever (5.7 km). Tatev monastery is known for the unique monument “Gavazan” (pillar) which aimed to give early warning signals about possible earthquakes and invaders. Participation in Sharakan fest- the festival of sacred music. During festival you will enjoy the performance of different chours from all over Armenia.

DAY 5

Yerevan –Haghpat-Sanahin-Yerevan

Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to medieval Armenian monastery complexes of Haghpat (976 AD) and Sanahin (966 AD) which are inscribed in UNESCO world heritage list.

Haghpat complex is famous, because for a long time Ashugh Sayat-Nova leaved here. Also, in Haghpat you will see the wall of wishes. If you will pass the wall without falling, your wish will come true.

Back to Yerevan.
