DAY 1: Arrival / Tbilisi
Arrive in Georgia – birthplace of vine, meeting at Tbilisi International Airport. Transfer to the hotel, accommodate.
DAY 2: Tbilisi
Breakfast in the hotel. City tour of Tbilisi which is one of the most attractive capitals in Caucasus with its boulevards, charming old churches and the pride of Georgian culture. Visit historical part of Old Tbilisi: Metekhi Church dated back to 13th century. Here the guests will delight with unforgettable panoramic views over the river Mtkvari and the main attractions of Tbilisi old district, such as Narikala Fortress – the ancient symbol of the city, Sioni built in 6th-7th CC, synagogue, the only remaining mosque in Tbilisi, etc. Visit Abanotubani (sulfur baths) – historical place at the foot of Narikala. Place where according to the legend King of Iberia discovered hot springs and subsequently found a new capital Tbilisi (“Tbili” means “worm, hot”, this name comes after the hot springs). Visitors will walk to the pedestrian street Sharden, one of the beloved places for local people as well as for foreigners, lots of cafes, restaurants, clubs and galleries are located here; There will be possible to visit wine shop on Leselidze Street. Lunch. After lunch enjoy with picturesque views from the Bridge of Peace– unique bridge with its modern glass architecture in contrast to the old style of the city;
Excursion will be finished by visiting one of the leading wine companies in Georgia. Here tourists will see all stages and technology of wine making and taste several sorts of wine. Dinner. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 3: Tbilisi / Mtskheta / Kutaisi
Breakfast in the hotel. Visit Mtskheta – an old capital of Iberia kingdom (from IV C BC to VI C AD), at short distance beyond Tbilisi. Nobody can understand Georgian spirituality without visiting the ancient royal and religious capital of Mtskheta.
Visit Jvari (Cross) Monastery perched on a hill and overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. Visit of Jvari should be carried out with this in mind. Visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (“Life-giving column”) – 11th C – place where according to the legend, is buried the Christ’s robe. Free time for shopping Georgian national handmade souvenirs, walking on the pedestrian street of the town.
After sightseeing tour visit many times awarded wine company “Chateau Mukhran”. Discover Georgian royal family history and legends, take taste of premium class wine with Georgian delicious snacks. Feedbacks of guests of “Chateau Mukhran” are always unforgettable. Lunch.
Departure to the West part of Georgia, Kutaisi. City tour of Kutaisi. Visit renovated Bagrati Cathedral – symbol of the city – dated back to 11th century, sited on a promontory above the river and giving fine views of the city below. Dinner. Overnight in Kutaisi.
DAY 4:Kutaisi / Racha / Kutaisi
Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning visit Gelati Monastery Complex – one of the main cultural attractions founded by King David Builder. Complex is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Departure to the mountain region Racha – one of the most significant wine producing area, Khvanchkara – a sweet, thick, dark red wine that was Stalin’s favorite, is produced here. Visit Barakoni, the church was built of neatly trimmed stable stand stones and adorned with rich fretworks. Visit Nikortsminda Church (XI-XVII CC), which is rich with frescos and considered as a masterpiece of Georgian architecture with fascinating ornaments of vine and its grapes.
After sightseeing visit wine company “Khvanchkara”, tasting several sorts of strong, semi-sweet unique wines, which are the winners of various international exhibitions. Return back to Kutaisi. Dinner. Overnight in Kutaisi.
DAY 5: Kutaisi / Uplistsikhe / Tbilisi
Breakfast in the hotel. The route goes to Uplistsikhe Cave Complex – the most impressive style of rock-cut culture. Here was founding grape stones dated back to 5000 years ago, statement that Georgia is the oldest wine producing region. Lunch.
Return back to Tbilisi. On the way of Tbilisi visit world famous brand “Sarajishvili” that is known not only for its unique cognac aroma but for the famous Yalta Conference, where the delegated were greeted by the brandy, among delegates Stalin and Churchill were fascinating by the taste of cognac. Arrive in Tbilisi. Dinner. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 6: Tbilisi / Kakheti Region
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to the East part of Georgia Kakheti Region, homeland of wine, region is known for very welcoming people and their warm hospitality. It may surprise our guests to know than Kakheti has the oldest continuous unbroken unique Qvevri traditions of clay pots used to create delicious, unfiltered, organic wines.
The first destination in Kakheti is Sighnaghi – one of the most beloved towns of Georgia; walking on the streets and enjoy with panoramic views over the Alazani Valley and the greater Caucasus mountains. The guests will have chance to visit an Art museum of Sighnaghi remarkable with the exhibition of worldwide famous painter Niko Pirosmani.
After excursion visit local Wine House in Gurjaani. Here guests will get known how wine is making in private houses and taste “Chacha” and several sorts of home wine kept in a “Kvevri” built into the ground. Tourists will have chance to take part in master-class of breaking Georgian bread called “Shoti” and making Kakhetian national sweet “Churchkhela” made by grapes’ juice and nuts. Upon request (extra service), it is possible to enjoy with Georgian folk songs while tasting. Here guests will get an unforgettable experience and positive energy.
After tasting wine, the route continues to Tsinandali – family estate, museum, vinery where is stored wines dating to 1814 and unique garden belonged to great Georgian nobleman and winemaker Aleksandre Chavchavadze. Departure to Telavi. Dinner. Overnight in Telavi.
DAY 7: Kakheti Region / Tbilisi
Breakfast in the hotel. Visit Germi -the ex-royal citadel and church of the Archangels which located on a hill and composed wonderful landscapes. Visit wine cellar called “Gvirabi” (tunnel) in Kvareli. There is stored more than six hundred wine tanks. Fascinating tour of the tunnel, re-creative park with river and old “kvevris” (some of them are older than a century), vineyards and waterfalls outside of the tunnel. Tasting four sorts of wine. Drive to Napareuli. Lunch in local family wine house. After lunch visit Alaverdi Cathedral dated back to the 6th-11th CC, the second tallest and the most important religious buildings in Georgia. Visit Ikalto – monastery complex of XV – XI CC, the ruins of academy beautifully situated in grove of cypresses, where was studied worldwide famous national poet Shota Rustaveli (XII C). After excursions return back to Tbilisi. Dinner. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 8: Tbilisi / Departure day
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport, departure.
